2011 — A Vintage Year
We continued the celebrations for Andy's 50th birthday with a week in Switzerland
Of course a week in Switzerland meant that we did a lot more walking, including the Yellow Spring Trail — good fun if you don't mind sheer drops for quite a bit of the way!
In late September we attended the Concorde Rally, organised by the Bristol branch of the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club
In mid-October Andy's bike needed its annual service, and he borrowed a Thunderbird while the workshop had his bike — he loved it, but a long standing back problem means that it's not for him
A couple of days later we participated in Hoggin' the Bridge, a charity ride
The ride started in Aust Services, just by the English end of the first Severn Bridge, and ended with the bikes streaming down the hill into Chepstow, on the Welsh side
In early November we headed over to Florida — the fish at Fort De Soto are a bit lively!
There was a police motorcycling event taking place at Destination Daytona; this isn't what it looks like, each contestant had to lay their bike down and show that they were able to pick it up
again . . .
. . . before negotiating a tight course as quickly as possible
We went up to visit some friends in South Carolina, and
Janet enjoyed some formation flying
It was a great holiday, but over far too soon
More walking, this time on Boxing day, on Studland beach
New Year's Eve was spent at Scallys
Scallys is the local biker haunt and is also a good live music venue
OK, we admit it, this wasn't actually taken in 2011, but in the early minutes of 2012. Fireworks ushered in 2012, a year which we already have plans for, and a year which we hope will be even more enjoyable than 2011.
Happy New Year from the Torque Monsters
